Ingredients

  • ½ lb macaroni
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion diced
  • Garlic salt pepper, chili powder, and hot sauce to taste
  • 2 14.5 oz cans whole stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • Tomato juice as needed

Method

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Season the beef mixture with garlic salt, pepper, chili powder, and hot sauce to taste.
  4. In a large bowl, mash the stewed tomatoes. Add the mashed tomatoes and ketchup to the beef mixture, stirring to combine.
  5. Add the drained macaroni to the beef mixture and stir well to combine.
  6. If the goulash seems too thick, add tomato juice to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adaptability: You can customize this goulash by adding vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Cheesy Option: For a cheesy version, stir in shredded cheese before serving.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a bit of tomato juice if needed.
  • Freezing: Goulash freezes well. Allow it to cool completely before freezing in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
